The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has he remembered for 14,575 Model Y vehicles for a problem Tesla can’t fix with its regular software: a missing signal. According to the recall report, Model Ys manufactured between November 17, 2024 and April 21, 2026 may be missing a weight-assurance sticker due to a malfunction with a “vision control device” at Tesla’s Fremont, California factory.
Like Electrek reports, the sticker in question usually goes on the inside of the driver’s side door and shows the vehicle’s safe weight, as well as tire information and date of manufacture. Many drivers may not notice these stickers, but it’s important to mention them when loading your car because excess weight can lead to accidents (it’s also useful to check your tire pressure).
Tesla estimates that only 45 percent of the recalled Model Y vehicles are missing stickers. The recall report also indicates that Tesla has fixed the scanning device that caused the problem and that its manufacturing teams have begun manually checking that cars have the stickers at the factory.
Unlike most Tesla recalls that are limited to a remote location, drivers must bring their Model Ys in for inspection to have the stickers checked and topped up as needed. At least this recall does not come with a risk of the wheels are falling off.
