Teenager injured after shooting in Birmingham.

A 16-year-old boy was shot and wounded following a shooting in Birmingham.

West Midlands Police said the attack happened just before 17:30 BST on Alum Rock Boyer Road.

The boy was taken to a hospital for treatment of “potentially life-threatening” gunshot wounds, police said in a statement.

Although this happened in the vicinity of a mosque, at this stage we do not believe the shooting is related to this place of worship.

The statement added: “We understand this is of great concern to people in the area, and local officers will be on hand to speak to anyone who may be concerned.”

Detectives are on scene.

Police are urging anyone with more information to contact them or contact the offenders.
