The president of the Spanish Football League, Javier Tebas, has presented a new plan to monitor referees in next season’s matches.
Javier Tebas took part in the ISDE sports conference to analyze the problem affecting Spanish football: piracy and the challenges of artificial intelligence and technology.
And he said Javier TebasAccording to AS newspaper. “We are going to do two main things in the next season. the first is the referee rating system. The referees’ technical committee has evaluators that evaluate some things using artificial intelligence. There are 30 evaluators for 20 referees and it is not consistent. We are developing a tool that determines 40% of the outcome with artificial intelligence.”
He continued. “From 11,000 matches, we develop a tool that detects offsides, penalties and a number of other algorithms… This tool shows whether the referee was wrong or right in the three main kicks.”
“We will also use it to select referees for the matches. It will provide three potential referees for each match.”
Regarding piracy, the president of La Liga has warned about a new challenge that has emerged recently. “Google has announced the biggest change to its search engine in 25 years. We’ll see how that affects us. I had a meeting with Google this morning to discuss this matter.”
As for artificial intelligence, he added: “These companies are losing money. Good artificial intelligence is paid. It will no longer be neutral, and users need to know that.”
