Takis Gonias, the former coach of Wadi Degla and Pyramids, has passed away

Majed Sami, president of “Wadi Degla” club, announced the death of Greek coach Takis Gonias at the age of 54.

Gonias has coached Wadi Degla and Pyramids clubs in Egypt and has many other coaching experiences in Greece.

Majed Sami wrote on his official Facebook page. “Rest in peace… Takis Gonias (1971-2026)… best coach.”

Many media reports have been content to report the death without specifying the cause yet.

Gonias was well known in Egyptian sporting circles when he took over the Wadi Degla coaching job in 2018 and continued with them until 2020.

Gonias always preferred to build attacks from the back with short ground passes before reaching the opponents’ goal and was admired by many clubs within Egypt.

Gonias coached Pyramids for one season and was also previously linked with Zamalek’s lead.
