Preparations for a ceremony to honor Egypt’s national team following its historic participation in the 2026 World Cup saw a new development after Egyptian Football Association Secretary General Mostafa Azzam revealed details of the upcoming celebration at the Cairo International Stadium, which will bring together the stars of the current national team with many of Egypt’s football legends.
Egypt ended their run at the 2026 FIFA World Cup finals by reaching the round of 16 before bowing out after a dramatic 3-2 loss to reigning champions Argentina in one of the most famous matches of the tournament.
Mustafa Azzam said in televised announcements on the On Sport channel that the celebration at the Cairo Stadium comes as a follow-up to the celebration held in El Alamein in recognition of what the Egyptian national team has provided during its journey to the 2026 World Cup.
He clarified that the celebration will be the presence of the national team players accompanied by their families on the field in a festive atmosphere with the aim of honoring the team’s achievement and involving the players’ families in this special occasion.
Azzam added that the Egyptian Football Association, despite the lack of time, has invited a number of historic generations of the national team, led by the 1986 generation, African Cup of Nations champions and the 1990 generation that participated in the finals of the World Cup in Italy, as well as 2001, 2006 and 2006. as a participant in the 2018 World Championship held in Russia.
He noted that the main pavilion of the Cairo Stadium will be dedicated to the stars and legends of Egyptian football, stressing that it aims to focus on them during the celebration, with a message that reflects the continuity of generations and the interconnectedness of Egyptian football history and affirms that achievements are built on what previous generations have achieved.
The Football Association General Secretary confirmed that all arrangements for the ceremony are in full swing to ensure that the celebration goes off in the best possible way, with the status of the national team and the legends who will be honoured.
He also explained that the United Sports Company is organizing the event, noting that it has prepared a group of special events and surprises that will give the celebration an exceptional character, celebrating the history of Egyptian football and its symbols.
In the same context, “Tazkarti” company announced the launch of tickets for the ceremony honoring the Egyptian national team, which will be held at the Cairo International Stadium, with the full presence of the audience.
The ceremony is scheduled to be performed by the artist Tamer Hosni, and the celebration will be held on the evening of Monday, July 13, and will begin at nine o’clock in the evening and continue for three hours, a night that is expected to witness a unique festive atmosphere combining sports and art in celebration of the achievements of the Egyptian national team and the World Cup20.
