Will the “leader” lose?
Al-Qadisiyah have entered into competition with Al-Hilal to prevent them from signing their sixth signing in the current summer transfer window.
Al Hilal officially signed 5 players: Muhammad Al Owais, Sabri Dal, Nawaf Al Habashi, Abdullah Al Anzi and Muhammad Al Sarnukh.
According to earlier media reports, Al-Zaim were looking to sign a sixth Saudi Arabian player, Mohamed Mahzri, a full-back from Al-Taawan.
However, Saudi journalist Ahmed Al-Ajlan confirmed that Al-Hilal could lose out on the deal after Al-Qadissia entered advanced talks with Al-Taa’oun to sign the Saudi right-back.
Some reports revealed differences between the administrations of Al Hilal and Al Taawon over the Mahzri deal due to the latter’s exaggeration in its financial requests.
Al Hilal already signed a new right-back in this summer’s Mercato, namely Mohamed Al-Sarnoukh, who arrived from Al-Fateh.
Mahzri is considered one of the meritorious players of Saudi football. He even joined the first team to face Serbia in March last year, but was not included in the 2026 World Cup squad.
Last season, the 24-year-old played 35 matches in the Saudi League with Al-Taaoon and the Guardian of the Two Holy Mosques Cup, during which he managed to become the author of a goal and two assists.
