“Green” will meet “Celeste” in the opening game of the World Cup
The coach of the Saudi Arabian team, the Greek Giorgos Donis, has adjusted the composition that will play the first match of the 2026 World Cup with the Uruguayan team, although there are 72 hours left before the confrontation.

Saudi newspaper Al-Riyadiya says Donis has agreed to face Uruguay with the same line-up that played in the last friendly against Senegal in the early hours of last Wednesday, which ended in a goalless draw.
Strangely, Al Hilal midfielder Mohamed Kanno was not named in the squad, although he was the only one to play the first two friendlies with the predominantly Greek coach, against both Venezuela and Puerto Rico.
Donis will rely on Muhammad Al-Owais, Saud Abdul-Hamid, Abdul-Ilah Al-Omari, Hassan Timbuktin and Mitab Al-Harbi as a defensive back four, Nasser Al-Dosari, Abdullah Al-Khaibari and Musab Al-Jaweer as goalkeepers, in addition to Muhammad Salbuomat Salyumat in attack. Al-Dosari and Firas Al-Braykan.
The newspaper noted that the coach of the Saudi Arabian national team will confirm the final list that will face Uruguay during a technical lecture a few hours before the match.
Before reaching that stage, Donis will give a video lecture to the players to familiarize them with the Uruguayan national team and its most obvious strengths and weaknesses, in addition to explaining the Greens’ tactical approach to the game.
It is noteworthy that the Saudi Arabian team is in the eighth group of the 2026 World Cup finals, next to the Uruguay team, in addition to the teams of Spain and Cape Verde.
