Super League: Toulouse 18-22 Wakefield – Trinity win in France

Toulouse started well and saw Jay Peats get a try denied in the build-up, before Jack Shorrocks kicked a penalty and took out Joe Cator to give them the lead.

Roumanos extended the home side’s lead on 17 minutes when he cut through the Wakefield defense to crash, with Shrocks adding the conversion to make it 8-0.

A score was disallowed for Wakefield before Jayden Myers crossed the line twice in five minutes. First, Pratt produced a diving finish to touch in a one-handed touch in a half-deficit corner on 22 minutes.

Mason then played a great short pass to Lino Fatili, who powered over for his fourth try in two games, Rourke converting to put Wakefield 10-8 ahead.

Wakefield extended their lead to 16-8 when Tevaga scored on a conversion by Rourke.

Toulouse squandered a number of scoring chances and Tiaki Chan failed to hold on to Ashal-Bot’s pass pointing to the try line.

In the 57th minute Rourke powered Nicotemo after a great break in midfield and Wakefield slipped out of sight.

But then Rourke was sin-binned for a deliberate obstruction and Ashall-Bot went over for his ninth Super League try.

Toulouse turned the screw on Wakefield’s 12, and Wolburg scored in acres of space on the right before Pratt dismissed Leguerre with a superb tackle in the last minute.
