Super League: Catalan Dragons 34-24 Bradford Bulls – French side win again

The win was also John Cartwright’s third in four games in charge.

The former Hull FC head coach was appointed until the end of the season last month, but reports earlier in the week suggested he could extend that until the end of 2027.

His charges got off to a great start when Lipowicz crossed after six minutes, but Sutton quickly leveled things.

Allen crashed over for the hosts after a Bradford error had given them good field position, but the Bulls quickly found a try of their own as Ryan dived over for his 10th of the year.

Scores from Bousquet and Fatap gave the Catalans a 12-point lead at the break, but Wynn pounced on a loose ball and finished well to pull the Bulls back within eight in the opening minutes of the second half.

The visitors then fumbled the ball on the restart, though, and Leeming punished them.

Guy Armitage and Ryan’s tries were canceled out as Bradford battled the game before Eakins collected Wayne’s kick once more to make it eight points.

Once again, though, the Bulls couldn’t build on their efforts, and Staines punished more lax defending to put the game past them and Wynn’s late score was just a consolation.

The Dragons’ improved form will be tested with a trip to second-placed Warrington on Thursday, while Bradford will look to get back to winning ways at home to St Helens next Saturday.
