Sofia Rahimi wrote her name in the annals of the 2026 World Cup after scoring her first goal for Morocco in the Atlas Lions’ 4-2 win over Haiti in the third and final group stage.

Rahimi’s goal not only gave Morocco three points, but was also key to qualifying for the round of 32 as the national team finished the group stage as runners-up in Group C, behind leaders Brazil on goal difference.

Ashraf Hakim, Ismail Sibari (45+1), Sofian Rahimi (78) and Jassem Yassine (89) stood out for Morocco’s goal in the 39th minute.

Statistics network Opta said Morocco became the first African team to have two substitutes score in a World Cup match.

The striker of the Moroccan national team expressed his great joy for this achievement on his official Facebook page and wrote: “I am very happy to have scored my first goal in the World Cup, and most importantly, to have contributed to the victory of our national team.”

Rahimi added, sending a message to fans. “Thank you all for your continued love and support.”

He concluded his post with a message of determination before the next round. “Now it’s time to look forward to what’s to come and focus on the round of 32 against … Dima Morocco.”
