The American president will attend the final of the World Cup
Spain striker Borja Iglesias has teased the possibility of meeting US President Donald Trump at the coronation ceremony after the 2026 World Cup final between Spain and Argentina next Sunday at MetLife Stadium in the US.
During a video interview with the magazine Panenka Spanish athlete Iglesias, who is known for his criticism of Trump, was asked if he would greet the US president and go up to the podium, and he jokingly replied: “I don’t want to be thrown in jail.”

Despite his limited minutes during the tournament, Iglesias still remains one of the most influential figures in the La Roja camp, given the family atmosphere within the team.

The Spanish forward is known for his frankness in expressing his opinion on social and political issues.
The 33-year-old young man said about the possibility of shaking hands with Trump. “It’s something I’ve thought about and even imagined. I hope to greet him at a time when we will all be very happy, and the matter will pass quickly, and I will forget.”
He added: “Sometimes we have to forget the moments we lived too”, noting that he does not see the opportunity to “incite arguments”.
“People already know how I think and I’m happy to do a lot of things, but the reality is that even though people think I’m omnipotent, I’m not strong enough to stand up to some things. It’s honestly complicated,” Iglesias continued.
