‘Starmer Burnham’ and ‘Best of Friends’

So says the headline on the front page of the Daily Telegraph. "Starmer blasts Burnham on Brexit.".

“Starmer sabotages Burnham on Brexit” is the Daily Telegraph’s lead story. Despite his previous desire to reverse the 2016 referendum, Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham wrote that Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer had “raised the prospect of joining the EU”. Sir Kerr has been seeking a closer relationship with the Union, but Labour’s election manifesto pledged to “stay outside the EU” without “a return to the single market, customs union or freedom of movement”.

"Starmer's ambiguous message: I'm not leaving." reads the headline on the front page of the Daily Mirror.

“I’m not going away,” the Daily Mirror quoted Sir Keir as saying in the headline, describing his message to his colleagues as a “message”. Despite pressure from some Labor MPs and senior ministers, the Prime Minister reportedly “rejected calls for a departure timetable.” The front page also included a photo of Alan Titchmarsh, David Beckham and King Charles III at the Chelsea Flower Show with the caption “Best of Friends”.
