Spotify is reporting on magazine articles now

Can you listen to magazine articles on Spotify? Towers are flocking certainly hope so, when they launch a a new genre of narrative fictionalong with many of his songs, podcasts, and audiobooks. From today, more 650 items from publications including Rolling Stone, Atlantic Ocean, Vogue, Miscellaneous, Billboard, Vibe, The value of GQ, Wired, Nonsense Fairand Pitchfork will be available in English in regions where Spotify audiobooks are available.

All recordings are at least two hours long, and are available under the monthly audiobook subscription for Premium users. Spotify says free users who don’t pay to sign up can also “buy individual tracks for $1.99,” though it’s not clear if that’s a per-track fee, or if $1.99 just gets you the tracks. We’ve reached out to Spotify to explain.

“With Notes, we’re introducing long-form audio journalism as a way to complement the music, podcasts, and audiobooks that people already come to Spotify, looking for topics we know they love,” Colleen Prendergast, Spotify Audiobooks lead, said in a statement. “By bringing short content, we meet audiences where they can help us develop better listening habits, and develop interest in books over time.”

This is Spotify’s latest foray outside of traditional music, having also introduced its latest AI tools. producing daily podcastsmaking audiobook playlistsand updating existing music from artists represented by Universal Music Group. Spotify’s announcement doesn’t say whether the audiobooks are explained by AI tools, only that they are created by Spotify’s internal Audiobooks team. Spotify declined to comment on the history of any AI work when we reached out for comment.
