Although his first World Cup appearance for La Roja has yet to materialize, Luis de la Fuente has full faith in Victor Munoz, insisting the new Liverpool man will be a key element for the remainder of Spain’s World Cup campaign.
Munoz, 22, has missed Spain’s games before this opener with an injury, but De La Fuente downplayed the extent of the injury, saying it was only a matter of time before he could return.
Spain coach V Media announcements“Victor suffers from a minor muscle problem. It’s not backwards at all. He’ll be back soon.”
De La Fuente added that the psychological aspect played a role in his condition. “He’s been through a lot of emotion and stress over the last few weeks and it could be taking a toll on him.”
He continued. “He just needs some peace and quiet now and I’m sure we’ll see the Victor we know very soon. We’re working on it.”
De la Fuente concluded his speech with a statement that made a clear bet. “Mark my words, Viktor will be a very important player for us in this World Cup.”
