SpaceX is on track to set a record for Starlink deployments


SpaceX is currently well ahead of last year’s record Starlink satellite deployments. SpaceX launched 1,589 Starlink satellites into low-Earth orbit in the first half of 2026, according to launch data compiled by Jonathan McDowell is a satellite trackercompared to 1,489 satellites placed in the same position in 2025.

2025 was already a big year for SpaceX, when the company launched 3,180 Starlink satellites in total. SpaceX has launched more than 12,400 Starlink satellites since the launch, and about 11,000 are still in operation.

To put these numbers into perspective, Amazon’s new Leo mission has already launched nearly 400 satellites. 15 monthson the way to the entire planned constellation of 3,232 satellites. In other words, SpaceX’s renewable Falcon 9 rocket can deposit one group of interplanetary stars in Leo each year.
