Fifteen-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi became India’s debutant in the T20I defeat of England at Old Trafford.

Jacob Bethell helped England spoil the international debut of Indian youngster Vaibhav Sooryavanshi on Saturday, with a four-wicket victory in the second Twenty20 in Manchester.
At the age of 15 years and 99 days, Sooryavanshi overtook Sachin Tendulkar as his country’s youngest bowler and had a blistering six-wicket haul as he scored 14 off 10 balls.

But it was Bethell, a consistent 22-year-old, who helped win the match at Old Trafford.
With England chasing 191 to win, they peaked at 51-3 and produced a superb 76 not out to take the hosts 1-0 up in the five-match series.
Bethell hit the button in the 17th over, smashing two free runs for six after no balls from Ravi Bishnoi, who made 29 to put England in control.
Bethell hit nine and six in 46 balls, finishing the match alongside Jofra Archer as England won by four wickets and an over to survive.

Opening the batting in place of Sanju Samson, Sooryavanshi came out in front of a large Indian crowd in Manchester and an evening television audience in Mumbai.
His first opponent was T20 debutant Josh Tongue, 13 years old but with 13 fewer T20 appearances. Sooryavanshi missed his first two balls and got off the crease with an inside catch that went past his off stump.
This brought him into competition with his Rajasthan Royals teammate Archer, and he announced himself and bent down to send a stunning whip that soared over his left shoulder for a six. He had completed his seventh regeneration, putting the Tongue in a long standing position.
With no real production and expansion, Will Jacks won the baby. Coming down the track, Sooryavanshi lost his momentum as he tried to club a flat, leg-stump off his pads to leave Jos Buttler with an easy stumper.
While the Sooryavanshi show was playing, Abhishek Sharma was busy hitting the lion’s share of the 50-run stand. In a repeat of the previous game at Durham, Sharma began to look untouchable as Sam Curran’s set-up forced the error, albeit with a low delivery that was bowled straight to deep midwicket to cut Sharma on 43.
Curran picked up two more wickets, Ishan Kishan’s formidable 49 and Shivam Dube’s 5, and would have climbed to 3-33 had Archer’s attempt to hit Tilak Verma not denied.
England’s innings collapsed immediately, with Arshdeep Singh getting opener Phil Salt and Jos Buttler caught for a duck in the first over of the chase.
Harry Brook started with a violent 39 off 15 balls. His salvo included four fours and a powerful six in a row as he brought Singh down to earth with a bump.
Needing 49 from 24 balls as the game drew to a close, England were second favorites until Bishnoi fell and Bethell came in unhappily on 17.
