Sooryavanshi 18-ball fifty top ‘most’ India T20 win against Zimbabwe | Cricket News

India beat Zimbabwe by seven wickets as 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi scored India’s maiden half-century.

Indian sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi took seven wickets against Zimbabwe in Harare.

Beaten to defeat on Thursday in the first of three matches, Zimbabwe managed a modest 125-7 in 20 overs with Wessly Madhevere (39) the winner.

Led by 15-year-old prodigy Sooryavanshi, who hit four sixes and four fours in an 18-ball 50, India passed 126-3 with 40 balls to spare.

Sooryavanshi became the youngest cricketer to represent India in the 4-0 T20I series against England this month. He scored 42 runs in three innings.

After his whirlwind 50 in Harare, Sooryavanshi was out when he was run out by Richard Ngarava and caught at third man by Ben Curran.

They left the visitors 68-2. Then, wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan (35) and unbeaten captain Shreyas Iyer (28 not out) ensured that India ended the recent T20I series.

Before he scored four more in England, one of the Indian Record 125 runs, the reigning T20I world champions lost another series 2-0 in Ireland.

The win at Harare Sports Club was a welcome relief for Iyer – it ended a seven game winless streak since he took over the captaincy.

“I think the guys were great. I couldn’t have been happier with my first win,” the pilot told reporters.

“It was big from a good length and it was very flexible. I felt it was there in both innings. We have two more matches to play here, so this performance gives everyone confidence.”

Madhevere was dismissed after a 58-wicket sixth stand by Tadiwanashe Marmani (27 not out). A foolish attempt to escape a second time caused him to fall.
