Some of the UK’s most unusual hot air balloons before the fiesta


Hot air balloons have been a defining feature of Bristol’s skyline for nearly 60 years.

The city is the birthplace of the modern hot air balloon in 1967 when the Bristol Belle was built and flown in the area.

Over the years, many weird and wonderful shaped balloons have graced the skies – some of which have become regulars at balloon festivals in the UK and around the world.

With the 48th edition of the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta returning from 7-9 August, here’s a roundup of some of the coolest shapes.
