Solos releases a lightweight version of its cameraless smart glasses

Solos has announced a new version of its AirGo smart glasses, which ditch the cameras to create a better visual experience and an AI assistant that relies on voice communication. Last year’s AirGo A5 weighed 36 to 40 grams depending on the frame, but the new AirGo A6 weighs around 19 grams. Some of the weight savings come from smaller speakers, batteries, and other electronics. For example, a The new Meta glasses were announced last month weight around 54 to about 60 grams depending on the style.

Pricing and availability for the new AirGo A6 have yet to be finalized, but the smart glasses support “full lens connectivity” and come in a variety of colors including transparent options to reveal the electronics inside. The glasses come with AI-powered hands-free features, including an assistant that can answer questions through voice commands, real-time translation, and calendar reminders. With speakers behind your ears, the AirGo A6 can also be used to listen to music or make phone calls while still hearing what’s going on around you.

Along with the new A6, Solo also announced new privacy-focused accessories for its AirGo V2 smart glasses that he started last year. This includes the $39, power-free temples in a variety of different colors and a privacy shield that blocks the V2’s camera from seeing anything. For $49, the privacy shield has clear lenses that add UV protection and reduce glare, but you can get the full privacy kit in a $79 bundle.
