Sniffin’s Glue at 50! Do you make a music zine? If so, we want to see it | Music

THis year is what is known as the 50th year of punk: fifty years since the Sex Pistols played Manchester Lesser Free Hall and it is said that he inspired everyone present to start a band; and since the Ramones did the same at London’s Roundhouse.

Although zines – do-it-yourself magazines – existed for at least a decade before this, the spirit of DIY punk appeared in the explosion of do-it-yourself publications documenting events, traditions, customs and cattle – the most famous of which was Sniffin’ Glue.

While many traditional music genres have fallen in the age of online music journalism, zines have persevered — and are enjoying a resurgence as younger readers seek an easier relationship with media.

If you make a statement about music, we want to see it: not old stuff from your favorite band, or projects that are out of print, but existing DIYs, in which you and your friends write about your experiences, what you like, what you like and what you hate (why a zine without a good diatribe?).
