Sir Keir Starmer was presented with a personalized revolver with live ammunition as a gift by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan during a NATO summit.
The weapon engraved with the Prime Minister’s name was one of a series of gifts presented to the heads of state at the event in Ankara.
Sir Kiir’s revolver has not been returned to England and remains with the British authorities in Turkey.
It is expected to be discontinued before returning, which means that it will no longer be able to fire live shots.
Erdogan left export controls on the gift but left it in Turkey because it is illegal to directly import weapons into the UK.
Downing Street has not released the leaked image.
At the summit, Sir Kiir signed a defense agreement with Erdogan that will pave the way for greater information exchange between the two countries.
Speaking after the summit, Sir Kiir said he believed the alliance was stronger and more united following the summit.
“This is a good meeting, we achieved what we wanted to achieve, which is unity.
This is especially important with the ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and the conflicts in Iran, he said.
It will be Sir Kiir’s last major international event since announcing his resignation last month.
