The curtain has officially come down on Robert Lewandowski’s career at Barcelona after the Polish striker decided to leave the Catalan club at the end of the current season, refusing to even consider an extension offer on reduced financial terms, opening the door to a heated conflict between the Saudi League and its American counterpart.

Lewandowski’s agent Pini Zahavi, who also represents coach Hansi Flick and is close to club president Joan Laporta, said the Polish star had not even gone into the details of Barcelona’s offer.
According to the Spanish “Sport” newspaper, Zahavi said. “Lewandowski did not reject the offer to extend his contract with Barcelona, but he wanted to take on a new challenge and this is what he decided to do,” clearly indicating that the decision was made before the Catalan club even put their official offer on the table.
Saudi Arabia and America… two possible destinations
The agent, who has been in Barcelona in recent days to manage his client’s future, added that several attractive offers have been on the table for some time and that the decisive moment is approaching.
“Clubs in the USA and Saudi Arabia have expressed their interest and a final decision will be made at the end of the season, excluding any European offers for Lewandowski, which he has received from Italian clubs and Porto in Portugal.
Poland is betting on the direction of Saudi Arabia
It is widely believed in Polish media and sports that Lewandowski will choose the Saudi League as his destination, although a move to Al-Hilal Saudi Arabia in particular is not confirmed, especially as the Blues include two prominent attacking stars in Karim Benzema and Darwin Nunez.
Al Hilal management, if they want to include the Polish player, will have to give up some foreign players in order to make room for him on the list allowed by the regulations of the Saudi Arabian Football Association.
