Shocking call… Nagelsmann calls the German keeper a surprising decision

The British Sky Sports network reported today, Tuesday, that the coach of the German national team, Julian Nagelsmann, had a telephone conversation with the “Hoffenheim” goalkeeper Oliver Baumann, informing him that he will not be the main goalkeeper of the German national team at the 2026 World Cup.

The network said Nagelsmann contacted Baumann, who is on vacation in Spain, to inform him that he had decided to hand Bayern Munich captain Manuel Neuer the starting goalkeeper duties after his international retirement.

Nagelsman added: “As long as Neuer’s calf injury does not get worse, he will mostly be in the national team.”

During the call, the German coach asked the “Hoffenheim” goalkeeper.

As reported by Sky Sports, Bauman did not refuse to sit on the bench, but is “very disappointed”.

The source of the disappointment is that Nagelsmann and goalkeeping coach Andreas Kronenberg “assured him in the last meeting that he would be the team’s first goalkeeper at the World Cup.”

In the current season, Bauman (35 years old) performed excellently for Hoffenheim, and also defended the Germans during the qualifying round of the World Cup.
