She was accused of killing her daughter with a hair dryer

A woman was charged with murdering her infant son. This woman died from the “extreme and sustained” heat of a hair dryer.

Courtney Gartshore is accused of “culpably and recklessly” allowing Dahlia-Rose Gartshore to get heat from the appliance while she was in her care in Peterhead, Aberdeenshire, on September 30, 2023.

She allegedly drank alcohol and took the Class B drug mephedrone while walking her three-month-old daughter alone.

Gartshore, 27, pleaded not guilty to culpable homicide along with other charges and appeared at Aberdeen High Court.

Prosecutors argued that Dahlia-Rose’s injuries were so severe that she died as a result.
