The recent wet weather in London has prevented much practice on grass, so Coyle is helping to find indoor courts at venues such as Hurlingham Club and the National Tennis Centre.
“The experiences we were having were very unique,” continued Quayle.
“She’s not gone – she’s still working at a high level. She’s just the ultimate professional.
“To me, she’s the best of all time, and you see that in the way she does things on the court.
“It’s amazing to be a part of and witness it — never mind learn from her and see her as a friend and opponent.”
Although he is a well-established hitting partner on the professional tour – and already lined up with work At Wimbledon – Coyle admitted his first practice against the 23-time Grand Slam singles champion was “a bit intimidating”.
“It’s a funny thing to watch someone serve it on TV for years and suddenly have that service come to you,” he explained.
“You struggle between appreciating some of those shots and playing them. She has such an aura and it’s hard not to feel a little nervous at times.
“I’m starting to practice a little to see her on the other side of the network, but every day is special.”
Quayle, who aspires to become a coach one day, is encouraged to speak if he has any observations about Williams’ training methods.
The team appreciates her surroundings, saying it’s “easy to get along with.”
She has a lot going on off the court so we don’t spend a lot of time outside the gym, but when we’re together, she’s really nice.
“She’s very receptive. We always steal jokes and have the same sense of humor.
“Everyone on that team makes it a great environment for everyone.”
Quayle has been asked to travel to Berlin next week, where Williams will play her second tournament with her new partner.
The boss said he still didn’t know if he would play at Wimbledon, which starts on Monday June 29, but at least he was relieved he didn’t need to be so open about his move to his friends.
“Now I feel like I can breathe and relax, that’s the secret,” he added.
