Scotland’s World Cup dreams and hopes of reaching the last 32 hang by a thread after a 3-0 loss to Brazil.

Before kick-off against Brazil, Scotland were second in the third place table.
But a three-goal defeat to Brazil dropped Scotland to seventh in the table and are in danger of being knocked out altogether once the group stage is over.
“I think we’re going home,” admitted Scotland boss Steve Clarke.

“We gave ourselves a tougher chance,” captain John McGinn said. “It’s impossible now but we’ll see.
“That’s not how you want to go out either. We’ll probably hit tonight, hit tomorrow and then keep our fingers crossed.
“If we get to the last 32, if we get a miracle, we have to be better, we know.
It’s unlikely now but we’ll see. We have a lot going on our way, we hope.
“It’s put us in the worst possible position since this morning. We gave ourselves a good platform to go on and qualify and tonight we made it very difficult. There’s no hiding from that.
“We need a lot to get our way, we would hope, but if we can do what we have to do, it will be a lot better.”
A dejected Andy Robertson said: “If you ask me now, I don’t think it’s enough. Time will tell. The next few days are going to be awful,” while midfielder Kenny McLean added: “Unfortunately we can’t control (our fate) now.

Defeat by two or more goals Paraguay Against Australia – or for Australia losing by four or more – good news for Scotland. A draw would leave Paraguay four points ahead of Scotland in third place.
Group I: Senegal vs Iraq, Friday, 8pm
A draw in Senegal And Iraq would be a dream result for Scotland, restricting both sides to a point. A low-scoring win for Iraq would also work in their favour, given their current tally of zero points and minus-six goal difference.

The best result for Scotland here is that the third-placed side have just two points – if that’s possible Cape Verde Beating Saudi Arabia moved up to five points and Uruguay lost to Spain to stay on two points.
Group G: New Zealand v Belgium, Egypt v Iran, Saturday, 4am
As in Group H, the third-placed team can only get two points if they win against Iran Belgium Defeated New Zealand. This combination of results would leave Iran third on two points.
Group L: Croatia vs Ghana, Saturday, 10pm
Scotland need Ghana to beat the current third-placed side Croatia Score at least three goals, so that the Croatians have the same points tally as Scotland and a worse goal difference.

A draw in DR Congo And Uzbekistan would suit Scotland in this group, or even a low-scoring win for Uzbekistan, whose goal difference is currently minus seven.

A draw between Austria and Algeria will be bad news for Scotland
