Scotland: Gordon will be the oldest player at the World Cup but will be the number 1 in Gunn’s hands

Scotland goalkeeper Craig Gordon will be the oldest player at the World Cup this summer, but the 43-year-old has yet to be handed the No.1 shirt.

After each of the 48 nations’ official squad lists were submitted, Gordon will wear number 21, with fellow goalkeepers Angus Gunn and Liam Kelly allocated numbers 1 and 12 respectively.

Manchester United’s Tyler Fletcher is eighth after the teenage midfielder Became a surprise replacement Sunday for the injured Billy Gilmour.

Striker Lyndon Dykes will wear Scotland’s No.9, fellow forward Che Adams No.10 and Laurence Shankland No.20.

It remains to be seen how much these choices are indicative of head coach Steve Clarke’s starting line-up, with centre-back Grant Hanley being named No.5.

Scotland travel to the USA and will play their final World Cup warm-up match against Bolivia – Live on the BBC – Saturday at 21:00 BST.

They then begin their tournament schedule next weekend against Haiti before facing Morocco and Brazil on Sunday 14 June (02:00).
