Clarke expressed his satisfaction with Scotland’s performance against Morocco
Scotland coach Steve Clarke says his side feel more comfortable playing the underdog ahead of their upcoming 2026 World Cup clash with Morocco, scheduled for tomorrow night, Friday US EDT.
Clark said at a news conference introducing the meeting, details of which were reported by the newspaper “Herald” Scottish. “We have to be very good against strong opponents. We understand that. But sometimes the Scottish mentality makes us a bit more comfortable when we’re underdogs.”
He continued. “We were favorites against Haiti and it was a difficult match for us, but we won. We’re the underdogs this time and sometimes Scotland prefer it that way.”

The Scotland coach praised the strength of the Atlas Lions, saying: “Morocco reached the semi-finals at the last World Cup and I think this team is just as good, if not better, and can definitely get better.”
“They will have ambitions to reach the semi-finals again. It’s a big challenge for us against Morocco. We respect them a lot.”
Regarding tactics and formation, Clark said: “It worked well for us, but in every system we played in, we put a lot of work into it. I showed in my time as coach that we are capable of playing with different systems. This is something we’ve always wanted to develop. More systems, different players for different matches. It’s something to wait and see.”
Scotland play Morocco in Group C, which also includes Brazil and Haiti.
The Atlas Lions drew with Seleção (1-1) in the first round of the group stage, while Scotland beat Haiti (1-0).
