Egyptian journalist and former Pharaohs goalkeeper Ahmed Shubert commented on the results of the Arab and African teams in the 2026 World Cup today, Sunday, praising the performance of the teams from the African continent and expressing his surprise at the withdrawal of Tunisia and Saudi Arabia.
Shubert wrote through his account on the “X” platform. “The current World Championship showed the strength of African teams. 9 out of 10 teams (qualified for the round of 32), and unfortunately the strange thing is that the only team that did not advance is sister Tunisia.
Foot changes everything.. What did the Australian media say about the confrontation with Egypt?
“Believe it or not, Cape Verde has progressed. Saudi Arabia wasted the opportunity of a lifetime not to go. The loss to Spain is logical, but it was a draw with Cape Verde in a crucial and decisive game. Your win qualifies you, you draw.”
Schubert concluded his post by saying: “There is a very strange need in Saudi and Tunisian football.”
Saudi Arabia bowed out of the World Cup after finishing bottom of their group with 2 points, while Tunisia finished bottom of the table without a point after 3 defeats.
The “Greens” needed a win against Cape Verde in the 3rd round of the group stage to secure a place in the round of 32, but the match ended in a goalless draw.
