A Saudi journalist has praised the Moroccan national team after they qualified for the 2026 World Cup round of 32, calling them the best Arab team in the World Cup and the only contenders to go far.

Morocco qualified for the 32nd World Cup final after defeating Haiti 4-2.in the early hours of Thursday, in the third and final round of the group stage, finishing second in Group Three on goal difference behind Brazil.

Saudi journalist Abdul Rahman Al-Hamidi said during MBC 1’s Nadina program. “As we expected, and as all analysts expected before the tournament, the team that stands out from the Arab teams and the most nominated to go far has qualified.”

He added: “The Lions of Atlas confirmed the sincerity of these non-emotional nominations and that Morocco as a system, as individual names, as a group performance and as a legacy they have created in past and present World Cups, is even the best Arab team.”

He concluded. “The proof of that is that he scored 7 points in the group stage of the 2022 FIFA World Cup and then 7 points in the current World Cup to advance to the round of 32 of the 2026 World Cup. Dima Morocco.”

Notably, Morocco became the first Arab and African team to qualify for the World Cup semi-finals at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, before losing to France and Croatia to finish in fourth place.
