Al-Raqi seeks to strengthen the right front
Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ahly have made an early move to tackle the right-back deal ahead of the start of the new season, making Portuguese Nelson Semedo, Fenerbahce’s Turkish star, the first choice on the summer transfer table.
According to journalist Akram Connor via website X, Al Rakhi are set to open a direct line with the Turkish club to convince them to offload the Portugal international in the coming days as part of a plan to attract names with strong records at European and international stadiums.
Connor stated that Al-Ahly have prepared a financial offer of between €6m and €7m to break the contract of Semedo, 32, who is tied to Fenerbahce until June 30, 2027 following a summer 2025 move. The current market value of the player is around 6 million euros.
On the other hand, Turkish media have confirmed that Semedo’s future will become clear after Fenerbahce’s training camp in Austria, where coach Ismail Kartal will make a final decision on whether the player stays or leaves.
Semedu has a remarkable CV as he represented Portugal in the last World Cup and participated in 4 matches of the tournament. He also made 40 appearances for Fenerbahce in all competitions last season, scoring a goal and providing three assists, reflecting his value as one of the most experienced full-backs in European football.
Al-Ahly’s move for Semedo reflects a clear desire to address the defensive void on the right wing with an internationally-ready element capable of making a difference from the first round of the season.
“Al Ahli” is ready to acquire “Fenerbahce” right defender Nelson Semedo.
