Sarah Ferguson’s charity is officially closed

Sarah Ferguson’s charity, the Sarah Trust, has been formally wound up and marked “removed” on the public register of charities.

More than three million documents released earlier this year by the US Department of Justice (DOJ) include emails that show Ferguson had contact with Epstein while he was in prison for soliciting sex with a minor. Naming in the documents does not indicate error.

The BBC has contacted Ferguson’s representatives for comment on the charity’s closure.

In the year The Sarah Trust, founded in 2020, is “committed to supporting the frontline, addressing humanitarian and environmental crises, the crisis of hunger and chronic cycles of poverty,” according to its website.

In February, a spokesperson for the foundation said the decision to close came after “several months” of discussions.

The foundation did not provide further details behind its decision to close at the time.

A massive file leak by the DOJ earlier this year suggested Ferguson was closer to Epstein than previously thought.

In his files, Ferguson In 2009, he was seen praising the late sex offender as “the brother I always wanted”.

Days after the emails were released, she took her daughters to lunch with him in Miami.

Representatives for Ferguson did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the documents.

The former Duchess has been dumped by several charities over her Epstein links.

In October, she was forced to move out of the Windsor home at Royal Lodge, where the couple lived together, after her ex-husband Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor abdicated as Duke of York over his affair with Epstein and divorced in 1996.
