In the 47th minute, the American referee Torrey Benso awarded a penalty for the attacker of the car, Kai Havertz.

Sani scored a controversial goal in the second minute of the match (1-0), after his teammate Aleksandar Pavlovic’s foot collided with the face of the Latin player Pedro Vitti.

But Ecuador quickly equalized through Nelson Angulo with a 9th-minute spot-kick.

Notably, the German side were guaranteed a place in the round of 32 at the top of Group E ahead of this match after defeating Curaçao (7-1) and Ivory Coast (2-1).
