El Salvador crew for the Switzerland-Colombia match
FIFA has announced the names of referees for the 1/8 finals of the 2026 World Cup next Tuesday between Egypt and Argentina, Switzerland and Colombia.
Egypt reached the quarter-finals by beating Australia on penalties after a 1-1 draw, while Argentina entered a tough contest after a hard-fought 3-2 win over Cape Verde after two extra-time periods.
FIFA has clarified that the match between Egypt and Argentina will be officiated by French personnel led by on-field referee Francois Letichere with assistants Cyril Meunier and Mehdi Rahmouni.
The fourth referee is Espen Eskas from Norway, with his compatriot Isaac Pashevkin, the assistant referee.
It should be noted that Francois Letxer is one of the best referees on the European continent, and previously 2024.
