The Carthage Eagles coach attributes the heavy loss to individual mistakes
Tunisia national team coach Sabri Lamouchi looked disappointed after Carthage Eagles’ 5-1 loss to Sweden in the first round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Group E tournament at the Monterrey Stadium in Mexico early on Monday.
The Tunisian team played a very bad game during the two halves. He made some disastrous saves that allowed Sweden to score 5 goalsAt the offensive level, he did not appear as desired.
In a quick interview with beIN Sports, Sabri Lamouchi commented on the match, saying: “Individual quality decided the match. We had individual mistakes and the Swedish players took advantage of them and scored their goals.”
He added: “We came back and closed the gap by the end of the first half (2-1) and we started well in the second half, but we couldn’t take advantage of this start.”
He continued his statements. “We paid a heavy price for individual mistakes, we are in the World Cup and the World Cup is ruthless.”
Regarding his preparation for the next two matches against Japan and Holland, Lamucci explained: “The mistakes have to be reduced and the tactical fragility has to be reduced in both matches and there has to be cohesion between the three lines and that’s what we lacked today, but the Swedish team was better than us.”
The Tunisian team is the last in the group with no points, while the Swedish team is the first with 3 points, while the Netherlands and Japan are in the second and third places with one point after a draw (2-2).
