Russia has said it is trying to recover a cargo of grain from the Sea of Azov after its ships were hit by a Ukrainian naval attack, while Kyiv said it hit 11 other Russian ships in an overnight strike.
Russia plans to use “other shipping methods” and may send goods “to other transportation methods”, the Russian Ministry of Agriculture said on Tuesday.

The ministry added that “what is in the Sea of Azov will not affect the food market or exports of our country.”
Ukrainian military chief Robert Brovdi said in a telegraph on Tuesday that drone strikes hit 11 Russian ships in the Sea of Azov overnight. The targets included five tankers, five dry cargo ships and a cargo boat, bringing the total number of ships affected in the past nine days to 116, he said.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov accused Ukraine of committing “terror”.
“What the Ukrainian government is doing goes beyond piracy. The pirates, at least, loot and keep the loot for themselves. But here, it does not benefit them or anyone else – the goal is only to destroy and threaten. It is terrorism, pure and simple,” said Lavrov.
The threats come as Ukraine mounts a long-term attack on Russia’s oil industry and other energy infrastructure, which has fueled Russia’s oil crisis.
Russia’s Defense Ministry said its air defense intercepted 288 Ukrainian drones across the country overnight. Russian officials say debris that fell from the drone injured one person and destroyed homes in several villages.
One attack set fire to the Afipsky oil refinery, authorities in Russia’s Krasnodar region reported.
Ukraine also hit another oil refinery in the Republic of Bashkortostan, which was hit twice in September 2025. Governor Radiy Khabirov said on Telegram that the attack fell on an industrial area in the city of Salavat.
Ukraine’s attack on Russian oil refineries has led to an oil crisis, prompting Moscow to reach out prohibiting certain oil imports amid rising global energy prices.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported that it had reached Kyiv, port facilities in Ukraine’s Odesa region, and a Ukrainian military oil depot at Yuzhny port.
Ukrainian military spokesman Dmytro Pletenchuk said Russian forces had rammed a civilian vessel near the Black Sea port of Odesa in Ukraine. Pletenchuk said there were no casualties in the attack.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian military officials said their forces launched seven missiles and 108 drones across the country.
