Firefighters also responded to fires in Solomyanskyi, Desnianskyi and Dnipro districts.

Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha called the ballistic missiles “brutal acts of terrorism in the capital of Ukraine” that demanded a strong response.

“We need more pressure on Moscow to end this threat,” he wrote in the X paper.

Russian airstrikes also hit Dnipropetrovsk, a central province bordering the front line, killing one person, according to regional chief Oleksandr Ganzha.

In the Zaporizhia region, a Russian plane crashed into a train, killing its conductor, the Ukrainian railway company said. It shared pictures of railway cars on fire.

Russia launched several major attacks on Kyiv in July, using cruise missiles at least seven times during Ukraine’s lack of Patriot interceptor missiles.

On Sunday, the Ukrainian military said it would shoot down 18 of the 41 missiles launched by Russia overnight.

Ukraine also said its military rammed two Russian oil tankers in the Black Sea, continuing its efforts to destroy the Russian-held Crimean island of oil and goods targeting shipments.
