Russia fired a ballistic missile at the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, killing one person and injuring at least 14, officials said.
Many areas of the region were hit overnight. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called it “one of the largest ballistic attacks on Kiev” since Russia’s full-scale invasion.
The Ukrainian Air Defense announced that it had shot down 18 of the 41 missiles. The systems also intercepted 108 drones.
Meanwhile, Ukraine continues its own attacks on Russian sites. The governor of the southwestern Stavropol region said that a drone attack led to a fire in an industrial park.
The Ukrainian Air Force said the latest attacks on Kiev involved various Russian weapons, including Iskander and hypersonic Zircon missiles, as well as 125 drones.
On Sunday, Kyiv Mayor Vitaly Klitschko said residential and non-residential buildings, including a supermarket and a dormitory, were damaged in the latest attacks.
Firefighters are battling a fire at two warehouses.
Zelensky said in a telegram last week that Russia had used about 1,450 fighter jets, more than 1,640 guided bombs and 99 different types of missiles against Ukraine.
The night attack happened after Ukraine sent drones. They destroyed two warehouses belonging to Russia’s largest online retailerWildberries, killed eight people and high fire.
