Rowing World Cup: Great Britain wins six golds in Lucerne

The women’s quartet was joined on top of the podium by the men’s quad sculls of Seddel Dafydd, Callum Dixon, Tobias Schroeder and Rory Harris.

They built up a commanding lead through the first three-quarters of the race to finish third with Germany’s charging Netherlands boat.

Daniel Graham, James Robson, Douay de Graaf and George Bourne were again in fine form in the men’s final four, taking a small clear-water lead by halfway and continuing to extend that advantage into the third quarter of the race.

The world champions won from Romania in very little clear water.

A good pace and patient run from Lauren Henry saw her win the women’s single sculls, with world champion Fiona Murtagh of Ireland finishing second.

Elizabeth Witt, Jade Lindow, Amelia Standing, Catherine George, Lauren Irwin, Annie Campbell-Orde, Heidi Long, Megan Slabbert and cox Jack Totem led the way and never relinquished it, defeating Australia and the United States.

The Paralympic and world champion came back from an early deficit to beat world bronze medalist Eric Horry from Australia.

Behind the Netherlands was a silver medal for the men’s eight and a bronze for the women’s four.

Meanwhile, the United States is confirmed as the 2026 World Rowing Cup winner, with 114 points from their visits to Plovdiv and Lucerne.

On the back of an outstanding performance in Lucerne, GB finished second with 94 points, one point behind the Netherlands. However, neither GB nor the Netherlands competed in Plovdiv.
