Australian Olympic cyclist Rohan Dennis has pleaded guilty to driving despite a five-year ban for hitting his wife in 2023.
Dennis, 36, appeared in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Friday to face a driving charge after police pulled him over last month while he was behind the wheel with two children as a passenger.
Last year, he received a suspended prison sentence after pleading guilty to one felony count of aggravated assault under a plea deal in which prosecutors dropped two more felony charges.
The jury found him not criminally responsible for the death of Melissa Hoskins, but negligent.
Last year, the court heard the couple, who married in 2018, had been arguing about a kitchen renovation before Denise got into the car.
Hoskins, an Olympic cyclist, jumped onto the bonnet of the car and later grabbed onto the car door as Dennis continued to drive. She fell and was later hit by the car. Hoskins later died of her injuries at the hospital.
Dennis was spared jail when he was sentenced last May.
He was also disqualified from driving the car for five years from the date of the accident in December 2023.
In court on Friday, prosecutors asked for the case to be brought to the district court for both the driving and the breach of the good behavior bond.
The father-of-two is due to appear in court in September.
