Robinhood will allow your AI assistant to trade stocks and make (or lose) more money

Robinhood is opening its trading platform to AI assistants. In announcement on WednesdayRobinhood says that traders can now create a separate account for the AI assistant and add real money, which allows the assistant to buy and sell products on the market.

The company positions this feature as a way for entrepreneurs to make business decisions, such as having an agent manage a specific industry and make a sale, or reorganize an existing portfolio. But it comes with a big warning from Robinhood:

Trading involves a lot of risk, including the loss of all your money. AI-driven strategies may perform well in certain market conditions, move quickly, and may be difficult to monitor or stop in real time… Robinhood does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or adequacy of any agent’s output, and is not responsible for any loss resulting from the agent’s decisions.

Even companies like Google, Microsoft, OpenAI, and Anthropic see AI assistants as the future, technology it’s not good have the motivation to serve as full-time assistants who can complete multiple tasks without human intervention. AI assistants it can be useful for codingbut asking them to buy things for you or fill out forms online it is often not useful or accurate.

Robinhood says users will receive push notifications whenever their AI assistant makes a trade, see a real-time feed in its app, and stop the AI trade at any time. Users can connect AI agents to the platform through the model protocol (MCP), an open standard that connects AI systems to software and data. It is currently in beta with the support of equities, but Robinhood plans to expand options, cryptocurrency, futures contracts, and more.

It’s not just AI integration that Robinhood is introducing, as it will also give Robinhood Gold Card customers the ability to connect an AI-powered agent to their credit card. Users will be able to choose how much money the AI assistant has and tell them what to buy. From there, the AI assistant will search the internet for deals and purchases. For example, Robinhood says that a sneaker lover can tell the AI assistant to buy a new release when the price drops below $300, while a pet owner can ask him to buy a five-star dog toy under $30.

Robinhood says users can log in to approve any credit card purchase, and “when appropriate,” agents will review the transaction.
