Riquelme’s reason.. Perez slams the door in Rodri’s face

Despite growing talk of Rodri Hernandez’s move to Real Madrid, Florentino Perez does not appear to be keen on completing a deal and is not currently looking to sign the Manchester City star, according to a report today.

The developments come days after Real Madrid presidential candidate Enrique Riquelme was thrown into controversy when he revealed he had reached an agreement with the Spanish international to play at the next World Cup. Amid widespread speculation that the intended name is Rhodri.

According to The Athletic Network, the Spanish midfielder has already been offered to Real Madrid, but the club’s management have shown no real desire to finalize a transfer deal, with Florentino Perez not convinced of the need to sign the player in the current window.

During his speech on the Spanish Radio Cuba program “El Partidazo”, Riquelme confirmed that he signed contracts with two international stars, along with a coach and a sports director, as part of his electoral project.

The candidate for the president of the club said. “We already have an agreement with two international stars and I’ve also signed a coach and a sporting director,” before he refused to reveal the identity of the Spanish player, who has sparked controversy despite allusions to Rodri in the Spanish media.

Perez’s stance opens the door to many questions about Riquelme’s statements and the current lukewarm relationship to the deal, especially as the Manchester City player’s name was heavily mooted at Real before the start of the campaign.

Despite the great status that Rodri enjoys after winning the Ballon d’Or and his success with Manchester City, current indicators confirm that his move to the Santiago Bernabeu is not currently a priority for Florentino Perez.
