Rights groups have accused the United Arab Emirates of being a transit point for Colombian recruits.

According to HRW, the recruits received training at UAE military facilities in Jiati and Al Watba before being secretly deployed to war zones in Sudan, where serious human rights violations such as mass killings, rape and gang rape, sexual slavery, looting and destruction of civilian infrastructure were committed.
