THis Nigerian entertainment takes place mainly in the city of Lagos, but he travels to Ghana and Tanzania and performs performances from these three countries, creating different stories, which are very interesting. That said, there are a lot of flaws, especially in the editing, and the styles range from professional and polished to amateur and rough, so it’s a bit difficult. However, it is more proof that the industry that has made a lot of money in Nollywood can take its operations on a global scale, and expand its audience beyond Africa.
Although the presidential race of men is a very big issue, this is a film about women, which includes women from several generations in different generations, which are often inconsistent. This is most evident in the first scene where we see the great matriarch Aisha Williams (Mercy Aigbe), the wife of political aspirant Marcus Williams (William Benson), screaming at her brother-in-law while the family members look on in shock. A difficult character to say the least, Aisha can turn on the charm when she wants to, for example her son, aspiring gymnast Mandla (Enioluwa Adeoluwa), brings his girlfriend Simisola (Prisca Lyimo) to meet the family. But as soon as Aisha meets Simisola’s aunt Bridget (Bimbo Akintola), a dedicated preacher, the hospitality spigot is suddenly turned off. By degrees, we learn that there is a long history between the two elderly women who are connected through acquaintance with the mother of Simisola Arinzo (played by director Iyabo Ojo) who everyone thought had died years ago.
While the story is weird and weird in places, the cinematography is beautiful and vivid, full of dark shadows and lighting that add to the noir feel. And although the story is about families who hate each other, there is a strong sense of community through the many groups of people in the streets and in the church, complete with drone shots that help to identify the place.
