Returning Cruyff’s favor… Guardiola’s appointment as Holland coach

Ronald de Boer and Guus Hiddink hope that the new coach of the Dutch team will be the Spanish Pep Guardiola.

Dutch FA coach Nigel de Jong has been forced to look for a new coach for the national team following Ronald Koeman’s sacking following a disappointing exit from the round of 32 at the FIFA World Cup.

Many names have been mentioned in the media, including Arne Slott, as well as former Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola.

Hiddink said in statements to De Telegraaf newspaper, which were published on the website VoetbalPrimeur: “Guardiola is working in the tradition of Johan Cruyff and I think this is a very wonderful idea. I don’t know how realistic that is, but if I were Nigel de Jong I would definitely try to sign him.”

He continued: “I see that Peter Bos is also a very suitable candidate both in terms of age and playing style, I think that PSV will not easily agree to his departure, but maybe a solution will be found.”

He noted: “Peter Bos can become the coach of the Dutch national team, and Arne Sloat will coach PSV Eindhoven.”
