Right-wing contender Flavio Bolsonaro is facing a new investigation into a video funding scandal, which could affect his run against Lula.

A new poll has confirmed a tight race for Brazil’s presidency this year, with second-leftist Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and far-right rival Flavio Bolsonaro tied for the top spot.

On Saturday, Datafolha, the polling company of the Grupo Folha media conglomerate, released its latest statistics, following the trends of voters in the run-up to the October general election.

About 2,004 responded to a recent survey, which asked them to know who they would vote for if Lula and Bolsonaro were to go ahead.

Lula, who is now 80 years old, is waiting for the fourth consecutive term.

Brazil’s presidents only serve two years at a time, and Lula served as president for the first time from 2003 to 2011, promoting social programs to reduce hunger and increase federal aid to the poor.

Bolsonaro, on the other hand, hopes to continue his father’s right-wing political legacy. The eldest son of former president Jair Bolsonaro, Flavio – a senator representing Rio de Janeiro – has promised that he wants his father released if elected.

Jair Bolsonaro is currently serving a 27-year prison sentence for trying to seize power and disrupt the results of the 2022 elections, which ended his term and the most recent start of Lula.

The results of Saturday’s vote put Lula and the younger Bolsonaro in the thick of it.

All the polls received 45% of the voters who voted, and an additional 9% indicated that they would vote for “nonsense”. The remaining 1 percent were undecided.

In his statement, Flavio Bolsonaro admitted that he received the money, but denied that the exchange was related to Vorcaro’s alleged fraud.

“It is necessary to separate the innocent from the criminals,” the statement said. “For us, what happened was a son seeking support for a PRIVATE SECOND film about his own father’s life.”

But the left-wing MPs have asked for an investigation into the matter.

The controversy surrounding the film Dark Horse is not the only issue that has plagued the campaign of President Flavio Bolsonaro in recent months.

In December, the senator entered the presidential race the blessing of his father who was in prison.

But soon, he was criticized for his claims he seems to think he can give up the race in exchange for his father’s rights. He later explained that his appointment was “irrevocable”.
