The RFU, which has plowed £24 million into top-level premiership women’s rugby over the past decade, has decided to review the new contract after two years to allow the figure to rise “if business activity in the women’s game materially exceeds expectations”.

The deal is the first Red Rose deal to be struck by international players’ group England Rugby, and was previously negotiated by the wider Rugby Players’ Association.
