A new hurdle to signing Diomande and Rhodri
Real Madrid’s negotiations to sign Ian Diomande and Rodry are progressing well, but the club is currently facing a new hurdle that could delay the players’ registration.
The newspaper reported.SportsReal Madrid’s talks with Leipzig over Diomande have entered their final stages, with the two clubs at loggerheads over the structure of the deal and the latest variables in the transfer process, despite optimism on all sides about its completion.
The final value of the deal could exceed 120 million euros, between the fixed amount and additional incentives.
As for the negotiations to include Rodri, they are still at a relatively early stage, but there is a state of confidence at Valdebebas Sport City. “Real Madrid” has already started negotiations with “Manchester City”.
New obstacle with player registration
La Liga statutes stipulate that a maximum of 25 players can be registered with professional contracts. Currently, Real Madrid is ranked 24th, and Franco Mastantuono is still registered with the Castilla team, despite the participation of the first team.
The sale of Gonzalo Garcia is expected to free up one spot, enough to register just one of the two new players.
But the problem goes beyond that, as most clubs prefer to keep the number 25 seat for any contingencies during the transfer window, a practice that Real Madrid themselves adopted last season.
Therefore, if both Diomande and Rodri arrive, the club will need another player to manoeuvre.
Asensio’s injury complicates calculations
Things got more complicated after Raul Asensio’s injury, which Real Madrid confirmed on Thursday.
The defender was close to leaving after manager Jose Mourinho informed him that he was not part of his plans, but this injury could delay his departure and also affect the club’s defensive planning, especially as Real are still exploring the possibility of signing a new centre-back before the transfer window closes.

In light of this situation, Real Madrid is considering several options to facilitate the departure of certain players.
Among the names being suggested is Franco Mastantuono, but his possible loan will not solve the license issue with the registrations of Ian Diomande and Rodri, as he currently holds a license with the reserve team.
This move comes within the framework of sports planning, as the club does not want to continue the status of a player who is fully integrated into the first team, but is registered with Castilla.
The Valdebebas management also believes that the best option for Mastantuno’s development after a season that saw limited participation is to go out on loan to get more game minutes.
Several clubs are interested in acquiring his services and River Plate are among the destinations to welcome his return, an option well received by the player, but Real Madrid prefer to loan him to a European club to continue his adaptation to football in the Old Continent before his return to the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.
As for Kamavinga, he is a player who could make room in the first team list, especially as he is receiving interest from a number of big clubs in the current transfer market.
However, the French international is not considering a move away from Real Madrid this summer, making that option virtually out of the question at the moment.
Accordingly, if Real Madrid want to complete the deal for Diomande and Rodri while retaining the last spot on the first team roster in case of any emergency, they will need to find an additional outlet for one of their players in the coming weeks.
