Real Madrid: Jose Mourinho is in final negotiations to become the next head coach.

Jose Mourinho is in final negotiations to become Real Madrid’s next head coach, 13 years after his first spell at the Bernabeu.

The 63-year-old is the clear favorite – and currently the only candidate Real is talking about for the role.

He will replace current coach Alvaro Arbeloa, who only took over in January following the departure of Xabi Alonso.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez first discussed the possibility of Mourinho’s return two days after Xabi Alonso left the club in talks with the Portuguese coach’s representatives.

Mourinho has been the coach of Benefica in his home country of Portugal since joining on a two-year contract in September. Only yesterday, he told the media that he did not want to talk about his future.

“There is a game against Estoril and from Monday I will be able to answer questions about coaching and the future of Benfica,” he said.

Saturday’s game against Estoril Praia is Benefica’s final of the season.

In the year Between 2010 and 2013 he was in charge at Real, winning La Liga, Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup.
