Free transfer on Royal Road

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is expected to announce the royal club’s first deal this summer tomorrow, Thursday, The Athletic newspaper reports.

The newspaper reports that French footballer Ibrahima Konate (27 years old) will join Real Madrid as a free agent after the end of his contract with “Liverpool”.

The Frenchman told reporters last April that he was “close” to an agreement. But the two sides failed to reach a solution, prompting Liverpool to confirm his departure amid reports that he has already signed a four-season deal with the Merengues.

Konate joined Liverpool from Leipzig in 2021, activating a £35 million ($47.4 million) release clause.

The Roosters player started alongside Dutchman Virgil van Dijk at the heart of the defense and made 183 appearances for the English club.
